TELL-TALE (FEATHERS), TELL-TALE (IDOLS), TELL-TALE (FIRE)

(Two-channel full HD videos, 3D prints, durations and dimensions variable, 2023)

Feathers, idols, fire. A series of images turned videos that delves into the collections of National Museum Liverpool (NML). Items from faraway tropical lands that know heat, or have its effects made permanent are stashed away in the museum storage. Artworks or artefacts, kept alive or stay dead? What conversations might these items have away from human ears?

The three videos of the series each comes with a set of three 3D printed reproductions (nine in total) of items selected from the NML collection. Printed in “ocean blue” that points to Liverpool’s past wealth and history as a major port city.
